Marie Lorenz: Tide and Current Taxi

As part of Lorenz’s Waterways exhibition in spring 2019, the gallery sponsored her boat trip down the Hudson River, in June, from Stillwater, New York, to Bushwick, Brooklyn. The five-day excursion—part of her ongoing Tide and Current Taxi project—extended her Usdan exhibit beyond gallery walls into the wild. Boats suspended from the Usdan ceiling went out on the water, and the route followed the water trail Lorenz plotted on a map table she built in the gallery. The artist’s blog narrative starts at the Bennington campus pond with students whose research helped shape her route.
